On a south facing wall, spring comes early.

Aren’t bulbs just so darn cheerful?  Just last week:

Hey, this is the fun part about having flowers. A bunch of indoor flowers of mine just bloomed and it was an amazing thing to watch unravel. One day, green in our bay window. The next few days after, orange, fuchsia, and red splashes I could see from the street. Quite an event. And I like your pictures, too. They make me want to reach into my screen and touch them.

Hi Apryl,

Thanks for commenting. Mulch might be fine, depending on what kind of mulch it was, what kind of bulbs you planted, and how deep they were planted.

Generally, bulbs should be planted twice as deep as the bulb size is. So a 2 inch daffodil goes into 6inch hole. When planted too deep, sometimes foliage appears without bloooms. Usually, however, they just bloom a little later. I bet that is what happens with yours.

Let us know, would you?

Pretty bulbs, I need to get on planting some of those in my garden. I did plant some last fall but then Bill put, oh , about 4 inches or more of mulch on them…. Not sure if that’s a good thing!
